Boat Trip
A mere week after "accidentally" ending up at the Big Gay Out when Sophie won tickets, I found myself once more within the bounds of the M25 for (and I blush to admit it) yet another night out on the town. Well I say town, it was actually a night out on a great big boat sailing up and down the Thames with a load of other trannies. The second annual Roses Boat Trip, to be precise. It's all Kim Angel's fault! On Thursday she said "I'll see you on the boat trip on Saturday", and I said "actually, I'm not going on the boat trip on Saturday," and then she said "well I've got a spare ticket if you want one," and then I said "yeah... okay!". Moments later I realised I'd been cunningly tricked into another night out! Curse you Kim Angel! Footnote Joanna Nicholls (top girl and co-founder with Kim of the UK Angels) had very kindly offered me a share in her accommodation for the night. So it was strangely apposite that I parked up in London next to a pub called The Angel to call Joanna and find out where she was... only to find I'd parked a mere 100 yards from the hotel where we were staying! And so a few hours later a boat laden with copious amounts of alcohol and a couple of hundred trannies weighed anchor and set off along the Thames for a night of partying and photo-opportunities. I spent a lot of time chatting with Jo and Kim, and the conversation got round to the rather morbid topic of what would happen if the boat were to go down with all hands that night. Apart from the inestimable loss to tranny-kind from the untimely demise of the great and the good from the scene, we discussed the possible devastation as the inevitable slick of war-paint entered the environment. We imagined the news images of stricken seagulls wearing Kryolan foundation and Max Factor lippy being scrubbed clean by dedicated volunteers. Luckily Jo came up with a plan for our personal survival: in the event of a Titanic or Poseidon Adventure we'd employ the stunningly befrocked Michaela Marbella as a floatation device. So yeah, turned out to be yet another top night out. But I know I always say that. I even had a proper chance to chat with Amanda, who I'd met the week before in the Fox and Hounds. And who, get this, lives in King's Lynn! Another King's Lynn tranny on the scene! If you think i'm making it up, check out the pictures up there and to the right. Clicky to make biggy. Footnote: Love Kim really! And she knows that, only put this footnote in just in case her army of fans took umbrage and declared a fatwa against me. Kim and partner very kindly gave us all a lift to the boat too, and home again, so I owe her one. |
